In between triumphant ‘World Domination’ tours of
their homeland, Europe, Australia and New Zealand, with travels
to the US penned for early 2006, The Nextmen have been keeping
very busy in the studio. Blueprints of the third installment in
The Nextmen album trilogy are currently being carefully laid,
but this release should more than keep appetites whet until that
drops. Accompanied by artwork from the legendary Jeff Jank, (Stones
Throw) ‘Blunted in the Backroom’ features over 30
rare and classic Trojan tracks from the likes of Bob Marley, Toots
and the Maytals, The Pioneers, The Upsetters and many more. The
Nextmen explore the unique relationship between hiphop and reggae
by incorporating accapellas from such Hip Hop luminaries as KRS
One and The Large Professor. It's no wonder then that this formidable
partnership have found themselves appearing on the Groove Armada
album, and remixing the likes of Public Enemy, Blackalicious,
The Pharcyde and Morcheeba, to name but a few.
So what next? With rocking sets from The Nextmen at the next
MTV Party, The Big Chill, TDK Festival, and Bestival among others,
this summer is set to sizzle! Burning heat. Also look out for
a Nextmen 12” ‘Blood Fire’ featuring Dynamite
MC and Demolition Man, set to be released from the ‘Blunted
in The Backroom’ compilation later this year.
